Kick in the Crotch
Directed by: Christopher Rohde -
Role: Co-conceptual Design, Subject, Actor, Production Assistant - 2004/13
In 2001 during my first year (of my first attempt) at university I met a person who would go on to be a constant collaborator & forever friend. Christopher and I were both fascinated by early cinema and artifacts of the moment. Resulting from musings on nationality, art and culture; I assisted Christopher in the creation of this playful short with a group of friends in which we reinterpreted a selection of early films, and invented a new one of our own. Kick in the Crotch reflects on the role of cinema in libraries, archives, galleries and in our collective cultural memory, thumbing its nose at serious academic approaches to history and art. Presented below is a shortened re-edit of the film done in 2013.
Production Still: Kenneth Warner
